A general term applied to business entities that have insufficient cash/funds to meet its debt obligations as they fall due. Therefore likely to be in some type of financial trouble.

Real-world Example

A company's liabilities exceed its assets and it can no longer pay its debts as they fall due - a state of insolvency that may lead to formal processes like Administration or Liquidation.
